Tyler Piña was born in Napa and raised in Novato, California. As a child, Tyler enjoyed spending long hours behind the computer screen, designing websites using HTML, and playing massively multiplayer online computer games. Towards the end of high school, Tyler decided that he did not want to mix business and pleasure; he would not like to have a career sitting behind a computer screen. After dropping out of Santa Rosa Junior College, Tyler got a job with Zak Plumbing, a local Mill Valley plumbing outfit, in June of 2006. Initially, the job was just a means to earn some spending money while he took a break from higher education. As time went on, Tyler enjoyed learning the plumbing trade more and more.  Tyler knew he wanted to make a career out of plumbing when his Mom told him she was going to begin charging him rent.

Tyler spent over 9 years working for Zak Plumbing, developing his skills as a service and repair plumber in Marin County, and is still very thankful to have been taught by John Zak, a well-respected “old school” plumber. When he would leave on vacation, John would leave Tyler in charge of returning phone calls, scheduling appointments, and calling in the payroll. Each time, Tyler was terrified. Eventually, the process became fun, and Tyler began to enjoy the aspect of running a small plumbing company. It was then that he knew he would open his own business. In October of 2015, Tyler started Piña Plumbing, Inc.
